Summer Checklist

  • Be aware of natural fruit drops in early summer (“June drop”)
  • Make sure trees receive one to two inches of water per week
  • Determine a critter protection strategy
  • Check grafted trees and prune any leaf buds on the rootstock
  • Manually thin clusters to two or three fruits
  • Add mulch to help with moisture, temperature, and weed suppression
  • Monitor for pests, diseases, and other issues
  • Gear up for harvesting and pulp processing with the right tools and equipment
  • Stop fertilizing after the Fourth of July
